In a landmark achievement for the domestic motorcycle industry, Zhang Xue Motorcycle factory team rider Valentin Debise won the first race at the World Superbike Championship (WSBK) Portuguese round on March 28, Beijing time. Riding the Zhang Xue 820RR-RS, Debise secured victory with a lead of 3.685 seconds. This victory marks the first time a Chinese motorcycle manufacturer has won in the premier class of the WSBK, breaking the decades-long dominance of international giants like Ducati, Yamaha, and Kawasaki. It represents a historic breakthrough for Chinese manufacturers in top-tier motorcycle racing, shattering the industry bias that China cannot produce elite racing machines.

Public information reveals that Zhang Xue, the founder of Zhang Xue Motorcycle, began his career as an apprentice mechanic. In 2017, he co-founded Tibet Zhufeng Kaiyue Industrial Co., Ltd., which produced popular models like the Kaiyue 450RR. In 2024, he established Chongqing Zhang Xue Motorcycle Industrial Co., Ltd. in the Liangjiang New Area. The first phase of the Chongqing facility includes a 12,000-square-meter production base, establishing an integrated industrial layout from core components to complete vehicle manufacturing, with an annual production capacity exceeding 20,000 units.

In 2025, Zhang Xue Motorcycle's sales surpassed 25,000 units. During the same year, at the Chongqing segment of the CCTV Spring Festival Gala, a red-silk-adorned Zhang Xue 500RR sped across the Qiansimen Bridge, making it the first motorcycle brand to appear on the CCTV gala stage in decades.

Corporate records show that Chongqing Zhang Xue Motorcycle Industrial Co., Ltd. was established on April 2, 2024, with a registered capital of 65.4 million yuan. The majority shareholder is Zhang Xue, holding a 73.3945% stake. The company's business scope includes the production of road motor vehicles, retail of automotive parts, remanufacturing of automotive components, and manufacturing of automotive parts and accessories. The company has completed three rounds of financing. In March of this year, it secured its Series A funding from investors Jinhua Zhechuang Jinyi Zhikong Venture Capital Partnership and Hangzhou Zhechuang Baige Venture Capital Partnership. Notably, a shareholder of Jinhua Zhechuang is the A-share listed company Hongchang Technology (301008), which holds a 29.82% stake.

At a 2026 partner conference, Zhang Xue disclosed key company data: total output value reached 750 million yuan in 2025, with R&D investment hitting 69.58 million yuan, accounting for 9.33% of sales revenue. The company reported a loss of 22.78 million yuan for the same period. Zhang Xue also revealed that the company completed its Series A financing in January 2026 and is expected to receive 90 million yuan in investment, resulting in a post-money valuation of 1.09 billion yuan.

Chongqing holds a prominent position in the off-road motorcycle sector. The city has now developed a diversified industrial landscape, led by established players like Zongshen and Loncin, with innovative newcomers such as Zhang Xue Motorcycle, Qiulong, and Junchi serving as new engines for growth. As a core national hub for motorcycle production, Chongqing's output reached 7.857 million units in 2025, accounting for 35.5% of the country's total production. Exports constituted 6.109 million units, or 77.8% of its output, with Chongqing-based companies occupying five spots among the top ten national motorcycle exporters.

According to the "Chongqing Intelligent Connected Electric Vehicle Industry Development Action Plan (2025-2027)," the city aims to achieve a total industry output value of 140 billion yuan and an annual production volume of 8 million motorcycles by 2027, with a target of 80% local sourcing rate for key components. The plan focuses on three key directions: premium, electrification, and intelligence. It prioritizes support for the research and development of medium and large-displacement motorcycles, accelerates technological breakthroughs in electric motorcycles with a goal of a 50% electrification rate by 2027, and establishes an "industrial brain + future factory" system to comprehensively enhance the digitalization level of the industrial chain. Currently, 23 motorcycle enterprises in Chongqing have established "future factories," with digital production lines accounting for 68% of the total.
