Ametek Inc.'s stock surged 5.18% during intraday trading on Thursday, driven by the company's release of better-than-expected first-quarter financial results and an upward revision to its full-year outlook, coupled with the announcement of a strategic acquisition.
The industrial technology firm reported adjusted earnings per share of $1.97 for the first quarter of 2026, surpassing the analyst consensus estimate of $1.90 and representing a 13% increase year-over-year. Net sales rose 11% to $1.93 billion, also exceeding expectations. The company highlighted strong organic sales growth, contributions from recent acquisitions, and broad-based end market demand as key drivers, resulting in record orders and backlog.
Concurrently, Ametek announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire First Aviation Services, a provider of defense and aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul services with approximately $80 million in annual sales. Furthermore, management raised its full-year 2026 adjusted EPS guidance to a range of $7.94 to $8.14, up from the previous outlook of $7.87 to $8.07, and now expects overall sales to be up high single digits compared to 2025.
