Future Bright 1Q26 Profit Drops 68% as Macau Catering Softens; Turnover Slips 3.4%

Future Bright Holdings Limited reported an unaudited profit attributable to shareholders of HK$2.90 million for the three months ended 31 March 2026, down 68.10% from HK$9.10 million a year earlier.

Turnover fell 3.40% year on year to HK$115.20 million, with gross margin contracting to 75.20% from 76.60%. Gross operating profit slid 22.50% to HK$24.10 million, and the corresponding margin narrowed to 20.90% (1Q25: 26.10%). EBITDA declined to HK$23.30 million from HK$30.00 million.

Segment performance • Food and catering: Profit dropped 92.30% to HK$0.40 million as turnover decreased 5.10% to HK$85.80 million. The gross operating profit margin compressed to 15.20% (1Q25: 22.80%). • Food souvenir: Profit halved to HK$1.50 million on a modest 2.10% turnover increase to HK$24.40 million; margin improved to 27.00% (1Q25: 25.10%). • Property investment: Profit grew 8.30% to HK$2.60 million, with turnover stable at HK$5.00 million. No fair-value adjustments were recorded for the Macau commercial building (1Q25: nil).

Restaurant mix • Japanese outlets led the decline, with turnover down 29.80% to HK$16.70 million. • Chinese restaurants fell 13.50% to HK$6.40 million, while Western restaurants rose 23.80% to HK$2.60 million. • Food court counters and franchise restaurants generated HK$37.10 million (+5.10%) and HK$14.90 million (flat) respectively.

Geographical split Turnover in Macau contracted 8.90% to HK$83.60 million and swung to a HK$0.30 million loss (1Q25: HK$5.90 million profit). Hong Kong revenue grew 14.90% to HK$31.60 million, maintaining a HK$3.20 million profit.

Cost structure and other items Cost of sales edged up 2.50% to HK$28.60 million, while direct operating expenses increased 3.60% to HK$62.50 million. Administrative expenses rose 8.00% to HK$19.00 million, and finance costs declined 10.90% to HK$4.10 million. Other revenue and gains climbed 36.80% to HK$2.60 million, mainly from management fees, bank interest and exchange movements.

Operational indicators Same-store turnover fell 6.40% overall. Restaurants and industrial catering dropped 6.80% to HK$80.50 million, with the steepest decline in Japanese restaurants (-29.80%). Same-store industrial catering grew 44.80% to HK$4.20 million. Food souvenir same-store sales slipped 5.00% to HK$22.70 million.

Management outlook The board remains “cautiously optimistic,” citing cost-control initiatives, inventory optimisation and new sales channels to mitigate a challenging consumption environment and evolving visitor spending patterns in Macau and Hong Kong.
