Akamai Technologies (AKAM) stock surged 5.27% in after-hours trading following the release of its second-quarter financial results, which surpassed analyst expectations on both the top and bottom lines.

The company reported adjusted earnings per share of $1.59, beating the consensus estimate of $1.57. Revenue for the quarter came in at $1.099 billion, slightly above the expected $1.092 billion. The results were driven by a 39% year-over-year surge in cloud infrastructure services revenue, bolstered by new multi-year contracts, including a significant $600 million agreement with a U.S. technology firm. Additionally, the security segment saw a 10% increase in revenue.

Alongside the earnings beat, Akamai provided its outlook for the third quarter and full year 2026, with revenue guidance aligning closely with analyst forecasts. The strong performance in high-growth segments appeared to overshadow a miss in adjusted EBITDA and a year-over-year decline in delivery and other cloud applications revenue.
