White goats: a circular farming model that drives income growth

Although the Chongming white goat is a well-known local brand, the income threshold for small-scale raisers is not low. The "Ten-Mile Goat Village" in Ping'an Village of Sanxing Town broke away from conventional thinking and developed a "planting-livestock-returning to fields" circular model, where agricultural waste is collected uniformly as goat feed to reduce costs, and goat manure is returned to the fields to enrich the soil and improve crop yield and quality.

The ranch launched products suited to different consumption scenarios through direct-sale stores on e-commerce platforms, and after opening up sales channels, it helped drive income growth for small raisers. In 2025, a total of 368 white goats were sold, generating operating revenue of nearly 600,000 yuan, revitalizing idle resources in Ping'an Village and allowing villagers to participate in the industry at their doorstep and share in the returns.

Double-hen pigeons: one cage of "besties" lays three times as many eggs

In traditional meat pigeon farming, female pigeons divert energy to incubating eggs, and a single breeding pair produces only about 2 eggs per month, making it difficult to improve efficiency. Yude Village in Sanxing Town partnered with Zhongge Industrial Co., Ltd. to introduce an innovative double-hen pigeon breeding model, pairing two female pigeons in each cage to form a stable "companion relationship," dedicated to producing edible pigeon eggs, removing the incubation step to maximize egg-laying capacity, while upgrading automatic feeding equipment and optimizing feed formulas to reduce egg breakage rates.

Under the new model, monthly egg production per breeding pair increased by nearly three times. Since the beginning of this year, pigeon egg sales have exceeded 50,000 yuan, and once at full capacity, it is expected to increase village collective income by more than 40,000 yuan annually.

One cage of "bestie pigeons" breaks the efficiency bottleneck of traditional farming, activates the "self-sustaining" function of rural specialty industries, and finds a new path of low investment and high returns for increasing village collective income.

Endive: smart agriculture "grown" inside shipping containers

Who says growing vegetables must depend on the weather? Hai'an Village in Sanxing Town used two shipping containers converted into smart cultivation chambers to provide a different answer. Inside, endive is grown using soilless hydroponics, with fully intelligent temperature and humidity control, no need for pesticides or chemical fertilizers, and a single-batch yield of about 3,000 to 4,000 catties.

To date, cumulative sales have reached 658,000 yuan, bringing 304,000 yuan in profit to the village collective. At the same time, to address the idle period of endive during summer heat, Hai'an Village and Shenzhen Village carried out "village-to-village collaboration," requiring only simple modifications to light strips and growing racks to introduce mulberry yellow fungus cultivation, achieving staggered production and four-season rotation.

One shipping container, busy through all four seasons, has become a "green bank."

Mushrooms: "mushrooms of wealth" sprouting under forest canopies and in greenhouses

Village forest land and corner plots that were once idle have now become a "treasure bowl." The mushroom cultivation industry project in Haibin Village of Sanxing Town has been successfully implemented, with multi-span greenhouse facilities and small understory arch sheds built to form a "understory + greenhouse" dual-mode cultivation of high-quality fungi such as Stropharia rugosoannulata and morel mushrooms, driving nearby farming households to participate in planting and management.

Haibin Village effectively revitalized 2.8 mu of idle land, generating 239,000 yuan in village collective economic income and 79,000 yuan in profit. Products are sold to surrounding markets and are well received by consumers.

Shed after shed of mushrooms allows the "sleeping" land to "breathe" again, gives the village collective a steady foundation for increasing income, and broadens villagers' paths to prosperity.
