Southern Alliance Mining Ltd. said on Jun, 12 2026 that exploration and evaluation activities at its Chaah Mine stayed broadly on plan during the quarter to Apr, 30 2026, while mining-related spending came in below earlier projections as work focused on tunnel infrastructure rather than ore processing.
The company noted that its underground mining subcontractor has shifted attention to constructing new access tunnels, dewatering systems and other infrastructure, leading to lower mining expenditure for both the Chaah iron-ore operation and the Gerik ionic-clay rare-earth project.
During the period, 619.8 metres of exploration drilling were completed at Chaah, delineating several new mineralised zones that could extend the existing resource block model. No iron-ore concentrate was produced in the quarter, with underground ore extraction at about 15,700 tonnes.
At Gerik, approximately 2,700 tonnes of rare-earth carbonate were produced from two parcels of land, while development of a third parcel is targeted to start operations toward the end of the financial year.
Looking ahead to the quarter ending Jul, 31 2026, the group plans to step up exploration spending and resume active production at Chaah, projecting higher mining-related expenditure as underground stoping re-starts in July.
