Lam Research Corp. (LRCX) surged 6.49% over the 24-hour trading period, as a powerful after-hours rally following the company's fiscal fourth-quarter earnings report more than erased a sharp regular-session decline. The semiconductor equipment maker's stock had been under significant pressure during the day, dragged down by a broad rout in memory chip stocks and heightened pre-earnings positioning, before the earnings release provided a catalyst for a sharp reversal.

The company reported record quarterly revenue of $6.72 billion, surpassing the consensus estimate of $6.66 billion, while adjusted earnings per share of $1.82 handily beat the $1.69 analysts had projected. CEO Tim Archer attributed the record results to AI-driven demand that is reshaping the semiconductor industry. The bullish tone was reinforced by a first-quarter revenue forecast of $7.7 billion to $8.5 billion, far above the $7.1 billion Wall Street estimate, and adjusted earnings guidance of $2.00 to $2.30 per share, well ahead of the $1.84 consensus.

The earnings beat and optimistic outlook removed the uncertainty that had weighed on the stock during the regular session, when memory chip names including Micron Technology and SK Hynix suffered steep losses. The bearish sentiment had spilled over into semiconductor equipment names, pushing Lam Research lower before the report. The release of the strong quarterly numbers and guidance triggered a release of oversold pressure, driving the after-hours surge that underpinned the 24-hour advance.
