Federated Hermes, a US asset manager, has announced the appointment of Edward Lo as Head of Wholesale Business Development for Asia (ex-Japan).

Based in Hong Kong, Lo will report to Jim Roland, Head of Distribution for Asia Pacific. In this role, he will take full responsibility for expanding the wholesale business across Asia (excluding Japan), deepening partnerships with banks, wealth management firms, family offices, and institutional clients.

The firm stated that this appointment is a key part of its plan to establish a Hong Kong office, which is still subject to regulatory approval. It also reflects the company's continued commitment to the Asia-Pacific market, aiming to further strengthen its services for regional banks, wealth managers, family offices, and institutional investors.

Lo brings over 20 years of asset management experience, with a focus on wholesale distribution and business development in Asian markets. Prior to joining Federated Hermes, he led the Asia financial intermediary distribution business at Baillie Gifford. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at Pictet Asset Management and Allianz Global Investors, building deep relationships with financial intermediaries and institutional clients across the region.

Jim Roland commented: "Asia is strategically significant for Federated Hermes. Asian clients are increasingly seeking investment partners who can manage complex strategies and portfolio construction. Edward's deep experience in the intermediary market, combined with his strong understanding of evolving client needs, will strengthen our relationships with distribution partners and institutional clients in the region, driving continued growth in our Asian business."
