Where to begin

According to a recent announcement from the "Here is Daxing" WeChat account, the Jiugong Town Senior Care Center in Beijing's Daxing District has started operations. This comprehensive facility, which integrates dining, daycare, medical health, and cultural entertainment, fills a gap in regional elderly care services and establishes a "15-minute elderly care service circle" for seniors.

Expanding beyond a single offering

The Jiugong Town Senior Care Center covers a total floor area of 3,330 square meters and is divided into five main functional zones: general services, a community dining hall, a senior learning academy, medical care services, and daycare services. The center serves all 39 communities in the town and connects with seven local senior service stations and five nursing homes, forming a complete "15-minute elderly care service circle." It aims to meet the diverse needs of elderly residents in the area, with a particular focus on the needs of the elderly who are of advanced age, live alone, have disabilities, or are in financial difficulty.

Addressing daily needs

The dining hall features a standardized open kitchen and can supply up to 260 senior meals per day through both dine-in and delivery services. The dishes are low in salt and fat, making them suitable for older adults. Seniors holding a local card can also receive exclusive subsidies, helping to solve the real-world problem of cooking difficulties and meal concerns for elderly individuals living alone.

Medical care and accommodation

The daycare zone is equipped with 66 professional nursing beds, non-slip flooring throughout, full-room handrails, and a bedside emergency call system. Nursing staff are on duty 24 hours a day, and the center began accepting long-term residents on August 1st. The medical care area includes a standardized clinic with emergency equipment and a full set of rehabilitation tools. It has established a green channel for medical treatment with nearby hospitals, allowing for minor illnesses to be treated on-site and major illnesses to be transferred quickly.

Cultural enrichment and community integration

The center's senior learning academy regularly offers free courses in calligraphy, painting, health preservation, and smart device usage, enriching the spiritual and cultural lives of the elderly. The general services area handles inquiries about senior care, home modification registrations, and the scheduling of home-based service orders. It also provides door-to-door services such as bathing assistance, cleaning, shopping, and psychological counseling, creating a three-in-one elderly care model that combines home, community, and institutional care.

Future plans

Currently, Daxing District has built 10 regional senior care centers. In the future, the district plans to continue strengthening its integrated home and community care network, optimize the layout of affordable elderly care resources, and consistently improve the full chain of services including meals, medical care, daily living support, and recreational activities.
