Taylor Morrison Home's stock surged 20% in pre-market trading on Monday, following the announcement of a definitive acquisition agreement by Berkshire Hathaway.

The dramatic move was triggered by Berkshire Hathaway's agreement to acquire the homebuilder for $72.50 per share in an all-cash transaction, representing a premium of approximately 24% to the company's closing price on May 29. The deal implies a total enterprise value of about $8.5 billion.

This acquisition marks the first major deal under Berkshire's new CEO, Greg Abel, and signals a significant bet on the U.S. housing sector. Upon completion, which is expected in the second half of 2026, Taylor Morrison will become a privately held company and its shares will be delisted from the New York Stock Exchange.
