A Shenyang-based company has clinched a national gold award for its digital twin technology, which is being used to manage complex tunnel projects. The award was announced in the 2026 list of Outstanding Engineering Projects in China's Geographic Information Industry.
Liaoning Hongtu Chuangzhan Surveying and Mapping Co., Ltd., headquartered in Shenyang, received the prestigious Gold Award for its "Chongqing Chahui Avenue Large-Section Tunnel Cluster Digital Twin and Intelligent Management Project." This recognition comes from the China Geographic Information Industry Association.
A 'smart brain' for tunnel management
The Chongqing Chahui Avenue project is an 8.96-kilometer eastern section of the city's fourth ring road. It features one long tunnel, two ramp tunnels, and four interchange bridges. Hongtu Chuangzhan's digital twin technology creates a virtual replica of the real-world traffic system, enabling full holographic visualization of the tunnel environment and real-time display of multi-dimensional data.
By integrating high-precision GIS, full IoT monitoring, spatiotemporal big data, and AI, the project establishes a comprehensive intelligent management system for the tunnel cluster. This system addresses long-standing industry challenges like difficulties in reconstructing underground spaces, isolated data silos, and challenges in predicting construction and operational risks. It enables intelligent, refined management throughout the entire lifecycle of tunnel construction and maintenance.
From Shenyang to a national industry benchmark
Founded in 2001, Hongtu Chuangzhan started in Shenyang and has consistently focused on geospatial information. It has been ranked among China's top 30 geographic information industry enterprises for ten consecutive years. The company is recognized as a Liaoning Province Gazelle Enterprise and a "Specialized and New" SME. It operates over 20 branches across the country, building a nationwide service network.

Hardcore technology serving national strategy
Hongtu Chuangzhan has developed a new business system centered on new foundational surveying, high-precision maps for intelligent connected vehicles, smart natural resource surveys, digital base construction for smart cities, and AI data annotation. It operates several innovation platforms, including the Liaoning Provincial Engineering Research Center for Urban Intelligent Planning Services and the Liaoning Provincial Professional Technology Innovation Center for Real-World 3D China.
Previously, the National Data Administration released 47 national data annotation best practice cases, with Liaoning Province contributing four. Hongtu Chuangzhan's project, "Multi-Source Collaborative Annotation of High-Quality Spatiotemporal Datasets for Rural Collective Land," was among them. This project has improved the efficiency of monitoring and managing rural collective land across 100 counties and districts in the province.
Winning this national gold award marks authoritative industry recognition of Hongtu Chuangzhan's digital twin technology innovation and project execution capabilities.
