According to sources familiar with the matter, AI startup Temporal Technologies Inc. is in discussions for a new funding round that would value the company at no less than $12 billion before receiving fresh capital. The startup, which offers an open-source workflow orchestration platform designed to prevent failures in complex code execution, is reportedly looking to raise approximately $500 million, with the caveat that the round has not been finalized and details could still shift.
Should the funding round close successfully, Temporal's valuation would more than double compared to February of this year. At that time, the company secured $300 million in a Series D round led by Andreessen Horowitz, which placed its valuation at $5 billion. Temporal did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
The growing prominence of agentic AI has made workflow orchestration platforms increasingly valuable to developers. Founded in 2019, Temporal states that its clients use the platform to run agents continuously for days or weeks without downtime, while also identifying fault nodes in workflows and effectively managing computing costs. According to insiders, OpenAI is Temporal's largest customer. Company information also lists AI coding firm Replit and health tech enterprise Abridge among its partners.
