China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has announced the formation of a draft document titled the "National Humanoid Robot Industry Standard System Construction Guide (2026 Edition)" as part of a strategic effort to enhance the systematic planning of standardization in this cutting-edge sector. The proposed guidelines are designed to establish a comprehensive standard framework, with a primary focus on advancing key areas such as fundamental commonalities, brain-inspired computing and intelligent computation, limbs and core components, complete machines and systems, practical applications, and safety ethics.
The roadmap sets an ambitious target for 2028, aiming to develop a scientifically structured and harmonized standard system through innovative working models. Specific goals include finalizing at least 100 critical standards covering humanoid robot capability testing and evaluation methods, core technologies, platforms and systems, application scenarios, and safety governance. Additionally, the initiative seeks to have over 200 enterprises actively engaged in standard implementation and promotion, thereby providing robust support for the high-quality growth of the humanoid robot industry.
Public consultation on the draft will be open from August 25 to September 23, allowing stakeholders and the general public to submit their feedback and suggestions during this period.
