In Yuxi City's Hongta District, Yunnan Province, Nanhu Park has been transformed. Once an underutilized ecological wetland, it now features attractions like a non-motorized playground, popular sandy beaches, and camping sites, drawing in local residents and tourists alike. Through market-oriented investment and professional operation, the area has evolved into a new cultural and tourism hub integrating ecological leisure, family-friendly entertainment, and distinctive commerce.
Located in the northern part of Yanhe Subdistrict, Nanhu Park covers an area of 648.03 acres, with a water surface of approximately 300 acres. Previously, it suffered from insufficient operation, remaining in an idle and inefficient state despite its valuable resources. In 2024, Yanhe Subdistrict took proactive steps by precisely targeting investment and successfully introducing Yunnan Rongxing Industrial Co., Ltd. to undertake an enhancement and renovation project. The total planned investment is 50 million yuan, to be implemented in two phases.
The first phase, with a total investment of 30 million yuan, officially opened to the public on October 1, 2024. According to Yu Xuhai, the person in charge of Yunnan Rongxing Industrial Co., Ltd., the first phase involved dredging and ecological restoration of the water area, revitalizing the 300-acre ecological lake landscape. A commercial food street composed of 105 containers was constructed, with 72 businesses already settled, creating an immersive night-time economy market. A non-motorized playground equipped with over 20 family-friendly amusement facilities was put into operation, offering an all-inclusive ticket. The Egret Islet网红沙滩 was developed, forming a lakeside holiday photo spot. Additionally, water parks, thatched dining huts, and other formats were introduced, establishing a one-stop游玩消费体系.
In its first month of operation, the project welcomed over 50,000 visitors. During the 2025 Spring Festival holiday, visitor numbers exceeded 30,000, making Nanhu Park a popular choice for family outings and leisure activities in Yuxi and surrounding areas.
"The core of the second phase planning focuses on experience," stated Yu Xuhai. The second phase will involve upgrading the container commercial street, creating a "Deer Call Animal Kingdom," constructing a lakeside miniature train, a large non-motorized pirate ship, and developing a starry sky camping site. Supporting services such as accommodation, dining, and travel photography will also be enhanced. Upon completion, the park will offer over 30 unique experiential activities, comprehensively meeting the diversified needs of tourists and facilitating a shift from mere "check-ins" to immersive experiences.
The revitalization of Nanhu Park has not only eliminated an annual management burden costing over a million yuan but also continues to boost the collective economy of the subdistrict and empower local residents through various means such as shop rentals, project operations, and employment generation. Currently, the project has directly created over 40 local jobs. With ongoing project development, it is expected to generate employment for more than 100 people. Furthermore, it indirectly stimulates the development of surrounding industries including餐饮, accommodation, and agricultural product sales, effectively invigorating regional economic vitality.
