Starting July 1st, a national subsidy for elderly care services has been launched on the e-commerce platform JD.com, with the inaugural transaction in the country successfully completed in Beijing.

Eligible seniors can search for "pension subsidy" on the JD.com App, and when ordering high-frequency in-home care services such as assisted bathing, housekeeping assistance, medical appointment companionship, rehabilitation therapy, and short-term care, they will receive an immediate 50% discount at checkout.

This subsidy program, initiated by the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the Ministry of Finance, targets elderly individuals with moderate or severe disabilities, providing financial support for in-home care, institutional care, respite services, and daycare services.

The services currently available on JD.com are for in-home care, with the subsidy covering 50% of the service cost, up to a maximum of 800 yuan per person per month.

Beijing has taken the lead in piloting the integration of this subsidy system with an e-commerce platform. After completing identity verification through the "Civil Affairs Online" system, qualified seniors can claim the subsidy on the JD.com App, select services, and have the amount automatically deducted upon payment.

Children and family members can also use the senior's account to place orders and schedule in-home services for them.

Ms. Dong from Beijing's Xicheng district successfully used the JD.com App to book in-home care for her ailing husband, utilizing the subsidy to cover half the cost, making her the first user in the country to claim and use the elderly care service subsidy on an e-commerce platform.

Ms. Dong remarked, "I never imagined booking care services for my husband could be as easy as online shopping, and it even deducts money directly like using a coupon."

As the first e-commerce platform to implement this subsidy, JD.com has successfully integrated with the "Civil Affairs Online" system, broadening the channels for claiming and using the subsidy and increasing service availability.

The JD.com Home Services division, which is qualified to provide these subsidized services, leverages its direct-operation model and employs intelligent training methods like AI-assisted instruction.

All elderly care attendants are required to complete systematic training covering 20 standard service procedures to ensure the delivery of high-quality, professional care for seniors.
