OCBC Bank's stock surged 3.06% during intraday trading on Monday, reflecting strong investor sentiment.
The price movement follows news that the bank's Indonesian subsidiary, PT Bank OCBC NISP Tbk, has officially acquired HSBC's International Wealth and Premier Banking (IWPB) business in Indonesia. The acquisition, expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2027, includes a portfolio of retail and wealth customers along with premium financial services such as deposits, investment products, credit cards, and retail loans.
This strategic move brings in assets under management (AUM) worth approximately Rp 89.8 trillion, significantly expanding OCBC's customer base and business scale in a key market. Bank management expressed optimism that this acquisition will support future business growth and enhance performance, contributing to the positive market reaction.
