Guizhou is making significant strides in the intelligent manufacturing sector, with its specialized and innovative "little giant" enterprises leveraging precision to capture global market share. These companies are demonstrating that a relentless focus on accuracy and quality is the key to competing on the world stage.
At the intelligent diode production workshop of Guizhou Yaguang Electronic Technology Co., Ltd., technicians were recently seen debugging laser printing equipment. This is part of the company's "one item, one code" project, a critical step for the nationally recognized "little giant" enterprise in its pursuit of "zero-defect" manufacturing for automotive-grade chips. According to Deputy General Manager Xiang Fei, the "ID card" for each tiny diode is essential. "Our diodes must withstand temperatures from -40°C to 150°C, with a failure rate of less than one in a million." This commitment to precision began in 2014 when the company established an academician workstation with the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. Three years later, they successfully developed a high-efficiency automotive avalanche diode, breaking foreign technological monopolies. The company has since led the drafting of two industry standards and now produces components whose technical indicators are comparable to those of international leaders like Bosch.
Technical breakthroughs are only the first hurdle. The real challenge lies in scaling a single "qualified" lab sample into millions of "consistently qualified" mass-produced units. "Our early production lines were mostly manual, leading to inconsistent quality," Xiang Fei admitted. When the company sought to enter the supply chain of top-tier global players like Valeo, the "devil's audit" from Valeo highlighted the need for intelligent production lines. Yaguang quickly discovered that these specified equipment sets, with their stable process parameters, were the key to maximizing product consistency. Today, one in every five rectifier diodes globally comes from Yaguang, giving the company a near 20% market share and ranking it third worldwide. As the electric vehicle era dawns, Yaguang is now extending its reach into the controller sector, having successfully mass-produced integrated smart starter-generator controllers (ISG) and belt-driven starter-generator controllers (BSG). This makes Yaguang the only Chinese company to achieve such mass production.
In another workshop, a similar story of extreme precision unfolds at Guiyang Sunlord Xunda Electronics Co., Ltd.. Here, the pursuit of "small" is an art form. The company produces inductors measuring just 0.6mm by 0.3mm, requiring precision winding, welding, and coating on wires thinner than a human hair. "Fewer than three companies in the world can mass-produce inductors of this size," stated Deputy General Manager Deng Shichun. "With an annual output of 5 billion units, we rank among the top three globally, holding a 15% share of the mobile phone inductor market." This achievement is the result of a 10-person team's three-year effort to overcome challenges in precision winding, rapid welding, and DIP coating. In 2020, the company invested nearly 500 million yuan in an intelligent transformation, introducing a MES system and AI-powered visual inspection machines. This upgrade enables a detection speed of 1,200 inductors per minute, a ten-fold increase over manual inspection, and boosts overall inspection efficiency by 50 times. Looking ahead, Sunlord Xunda is focusing on new materials with high-frequency, low-loss properties and developing new processes for micron-level precision winding. They are also strategically expanding into new markets such as new energy and AI computing. "We will continue to invest no less than 5% of our sales revenue in R&D. This isn't about sacrificing profit; it's about protecting it," Deng Shichun emphasized.
Meanwhile, at the Guiyang Nanming Smart Manufacturing Industrial Park, another form of precision is taking root. At Taixin Semiconductor (Guizhou) Co., Ltd., display cases showcase rows of tiny black chips—gallium nitride (GaN) RF chips that are smaller than a fingernail. These chips are the "hearts" of 5G/6G base stations, satellite internet, and drone data links. Taixin moved its headquarters to Guiyang in 2024, finding a perfect alignment with the local government's strategic focus. "Guizhou has made electronic information manufacturing a key priority, and Nanming District's layout for third-generation semiconductors and RF chip packaging aligns perfectly with our business," said Administrative Director Tang Zhengcun. The industrial park provided a competitive advantage with full-process services covering factory space, policy support, talent, and project implementation. Before relocating, Taixin struggled with suboptimal facilities, low production efficiency, and long delivery cycles. Now, the company has built its own complete production line for packaging, testing, and micro-assembly, complete with a thousand-level cleanroom and dedicated standardized factory. "In the first half of this year, we delivered orders worth approximately 25 million yuan," Tang Zhengcun reported. Leveraging teams from Tsinghua University and Xidian University, Taixin has mastered advanced process design capabilities, and in specific niches like Ka-band microwave and millimeter-wave monolithic integrated circuits and high-power GaN power amplifiers, some of its indicators now match international counterparts.
These company-level achievements are driving impressive growth across the province. In 2025, Guizhou's electronic information manufacturing industry reached a value of 120 billion yuan, while its software and IT services sector generated 107.5 billion yuan in revenue, quadrupling from the end of the "13th Five-Year Plan" period. The province has set ambitious targets for 2026, aiming for its digital intelligence industry to surpass 300 billion yuan, with the electronic information manufacturing industry and software/IT services sector both expected to grow by 15%. With its "little giants" leading the charge, Guizhou is proving that precision and innovation are powerful engines for economic growth.
