Stock Track | SICC Plummets 6.19% Intraday Amid Financial Losses, Industry Challenges and Shareholder Selling Plans

May 19

SICC's stock plummeted 6.19% during intraday trading on Tuesday, extending a correction from recent weeks. The sharp decline follows a significant monthly surge of over 80% that had previously triggered abnormal trading alerts.

The sell-off reflects multiple headwinds facing the company. SICC reported a full-year net loss attributable to shareholders of 208 million yuan, with first-quarter losses continuing at 60.5 million yuan. The silicon carbide (SiC) substrate industry remains in a challenging "volume-up-price-down" pattern, with intensifying competition putting downward pressure on product pricing.

Additionally, industry experts have publicly questioned the demand logic for silicon carbide in 2.5D advanced packaging applications, undermining a key growth narrative. Compounding the pressure, certain shareholders have disclosed plans to reduce their holdings by up to 2.20% of total share capital, prompting sustained profit-taking after the stock's recent substantial gains.
