A stand-alone battery energy storage project has been signed in Gengma, Lincang, Yunnan, with a total investment of 1.5 billion yuan.

The project, developed by China Southern Power Grid Peak Shaving and Frequency Regulation (Guangdong) Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd., has been included in Yunnan Province's list of new shared energy storage projects. It plans an installed capacity of 300,000 kilowatts and an energy storage capacity of 1.2 million kilowatt-hours. Both the installed capacity and energy storage capacity rank first in the province among Yunnan's new shared energy storage projects for 2026.

According to the Gengma County Investment Promotion Bureau, this initiative will closely integrate with multiple photovoltaic projects currently under construction or planned in the county. It will establish a coordinated model of "solar power generation plus energy storage for peak shaving," effectively smoothing out the volatility and intermittency of wind and solar renewable energy generation. This will significantly enhance the regional power grid's frequency regulation and peak shaving capabilities, as well as its clean energy consumption levels.

Upon completion, the project will stably supply ample green electricity, providing a solid power foundation for attracting high-power-consuming enterprises such as computing centers, new energy battery manufacturing, and electronic product production facilities. This will effectively drive the optimization of the regional energy structure and its green transition, pushing traditional high-energy-consuming industries toward low-carbon and zero-carbon upgrades, ultimately converting "green resources" into a "green economy."

China Southern Power Grid Peak Shaving and Frequency Regulation (Guangdong) Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd., established in September 2018, is wholly owned by China Southern Power Grid's subsidiary, Nanshan Energy Storage (600995). The company specializes in the investment, construction, and operation of new energy storage systems.
