US Chip Stocks Rise Across the Board in Pre-Market Trading

On August 17, during US pre-market trading, Dow futures fell 0.09%, while Nasdaq 100 futures rose 0.54% and S&P 500 futures gained 0.18%. Chip stocks saw a collective pre-market surge, with SanDisk climbing more than 5%, Micron Technology and Marvell Technology each advancing over 3%, and Intel and ARM both rising more than 2%.

The optical communications sector also moved higher in pre-market activity, with Coherent, Corning, and Applied Optoelectronics each gaining more than 3%.

In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index closed up 1.34% today, while the Hang Seng Tech Index rose 1.58%. Chip stocks also posted broad gains, with Tianshu Zhixin surging more than 10%, Montage Technology gaining over 9%, GigaDevice rising more than 8%, Hua Hong Semiconductor climbing over 7%, and Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) advancing more than 6%.
