On 29 May 2026, Suzhou Basecare Medical Corporation Limited (Basecare) announced that China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) has granted a Class III medical device registration certificate (Guo Xie Zhu Jin 20263180183) for the Gems-series Egg Retrieval Solution, a core reagent used in the first stage of in-vitro fertilisation (IVF).

The solution contains gentamicin sulfate to reduce sample contamination and employs a HEPES buffer system to maintain pH stability outside incubators. It offers a shelf life of up to 52 weeks, enhancing clinical convenience for diverse egg-retrieval procedures.

With this approval, all six Gems-series reagents—egg retrieval solution, embryo processing fluid, fertilisation medium, cleavage embryo culture medium, blastocyst culture medium and embryo culture medium—now hold regulatory certification, establishing a complete, closed-loop product line that spans the entire IVF workflow.

The Gems range draws on three decades of IVF reagent development and was led by embryo-culture specialist David Mortimer of Sydney IVF Centre. Backed by 13 years of multi-centre clinical validation, the series also carries CE, US FDA and Australian TGA clearances, underscoring its global regulatory recognition.
