Data released by Chongqing Customs on April 21 shows that exports of electric motorcycles and bicycles from Chongqing reached 170 million yuan in the first quarter of 2026, a year-on-year increase of 23.6%. The global trend towards green transportation continues to gain momentum, with Chinese electric motorcycles, known for their convenience, environmental benefits, and affordability, becoming increasingly popular in overseas markets.
As the "Motorcycle Capital of China," Chongqing boasts a well-developed industrial and supply chain. The recent success of Chinese motorcycle manufacturer Zhangxue Jiche, which secured victories in both races of the WorldSSP category at the World Superbike Championship (WSBK) in Portugal on March 29, has drawn global attention to Chongqing's motorcycle industry.
On April 10, workers were seen assembling electric motorcycles on the production line at Chongqing Qiulong Technology Co., Ltd. "Our orders for this year are already scheduled through July," said Xiao Shihao, Marketing Manager at Qiulong Technology. The company established its electric off-road motorcycle brand in 2014, and its products are now sold in over 60 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, and South Korea.
"The demand for efficiency and energy savings is growing," noted Effendi Wijaya, an Indonesian distributor. Compared to fuel-powered motorcycles, electric models have lower costs, are more environmentally friendly, and produce zero emissions, making them highly popular in the Indonesian market.
Wang Hao, General Manager of the Overseas Marketing Division at Yadi Technology Group, stated that the company is accelerating its global expansion by establishing overseas production bases and marketing centers. Its exported electric vehicle products are also customized through R&D to meet the specific usage needs of different regions. Furthermore, smart features such as remote control, anti-skid protection in wet conditions, and hill descent control are increasingly favored by customers both domestically and internationally.
The "Chongqing Intelligent Connected Electric Vehicle Industry Development Action Plan (2025-2027)," issued in July 2025, sets a target for the city's annual electric vehicle production to exceed 15 million units by 2027. Electric motorcycles are expected to account for over 80% of this output, with a significant increase in per-unit value. The plan also aims to establish a global operational system for intelligent connected electric vehicles, with a substantial rise in the proportion of exports.
