In Langfang, Hebei, efforts are accelerating to integrate into the "co-building one car" industrial chain of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, with automotive parts now reaching manufacturers in Beijing and Tianjin in as little as 60 minutes.
On July 9th, within the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Intelligent Connected New Energy Vehicle Technology and Ecology Port's Langfang Park, operations were underway at the production facility of Hebei Yusun Automobile Technology Co., Ltd. At the company's new plant, machinery hummed as batches of qualified radiator water chambers for new energy vehicles were inspected and dispatched to a client in Beijing.
"Our products can reach the main assembly plants and tier-one suppliers in Beijing and Tianjin in as little as one hour," stated Chen Peng, the company's responsible person. Currently, 14 injection molding machines have entered the trial production phase, and orders have been successfully secured from several automakers including Beijing Automotive and Beijing Benz. Upon the official commencement of operations at the new plant in October this year, it is projected to have an annual production capacity of 13 million automotive radiator plastic components.
The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region is collaboratively focusing on "co-building one car," with the three areas jointly establishing the Intelligent Connected New Energy Vehicle Technology and Ecology Port. Industrial parks have been laid out in Shunyi, Beijing; Wuqing, Tianjin; and Langfang, Hebei. Presently, the Langfang park has secured 22 projects, including one from Shanghai Yousheng, and is accelerating the creation of a "one-hour automotive parts supply circle."
As one of China's seven major complete vehicle industry clusters, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region hosts 28 vehicle manufacturers such as Xiaomi, BAIC, and Great Wall. "Closely aligning with the demands of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei vehicle enterprises, Langfang is vigorously developing its automotive parts industry, speeding up the formation of an industrial structure that features differentiated development, complementary advantages, and integrated synergy with Beijing and Tianjin," explained a relevant official from the Langfang Municipal Industry and Information Technology Bureau.
Situated within the optimal 50-kilometer supply radius for vehicle plants in Beijing and Tianjin, Langfang's automotive parts companies leverage a cost-effective and efficient warehousing and logistics system. This enables a model where orders are placed in Beijing/Tianjin and fulfilled from Langfang, with delivery possible in as little as one hour, establishing the area as a crucial parts base, storage workshop, and regional transit hub for the Beijing-Tianjin vehicle industry.
A favorable industrial ecosystem is accelerating the clustering of enterprises. To date, Langfang has attracted a significant number of foreign-invested firms such as Gentherm Automotive and MöllerTech, as well as companies from the Yangtze River Delta and Chengdu-Chongqing regions like Wuxi Zhenhua and Chongqing Qingyan. Local enterprises including Hua'an Automobile and Haichao Manufacturing have successively implemented capital expansion and production increase projects, continually enhancing the industrial collaborative supply system.
The industrial chain is continuously extending. Langfang's automotive parts industry now covers five major modules: body, powertrain, chassis, electrical, and intelligent connectivity. It is capable of mass-producing over 100 types of products, including high-voltage wiring harnesses and intelligent display screens. Suppliers within the city can provide more than 40% of the parts for a complete vehicle, offering efficient local supply support for Beijing-Tianjin automakers like Beijing Automotive, Li Auto, and Xiaomi Auto.
In the first five months of this year, 94 large-scale automotive parts enterprises in the city achieved operating revenue of 11.33 billion yuan, marking a year-on-year increase of 11.4%. This growth momentum is closely linked to Langfang's active promotion of collaborative innovation between its automotive parts companies and universities/research institutes in Beijing and Tianjin. By synergizing efforts in technology R&D, achievement incubation, and commercialization, the city is accelerating the construction of a Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei automotive industry collaborative innovation and transformation hub.
Deep cultivation in industry-academia-research collaborative innovation is ongoing. Currently, Langfang's automotive parts sector has established 43 various industrial innovation platforms, transformed 132 scientific and technological achievements, obtained 3,576 patents, seen 7 enterprises recognized as specialized and sophisticated "little giant" firms, and had 13 enterprises lead or participate in the formulation or revision of national or industry standards, leading to a comprehensive enhancement of industrial core competitiveness.
Gathering the chain to build momentum for co-creating new vehicles. "Langfang recently formulated and issued 14 measures to promote the breakthrough and leapfrog development of the new energy and intelligent connected vehicle industry. These measures provide comprehensive support from deepening regional cooperation, precise investment attraction, achievement transformation, and talent introduction and cultivation, accelerating the effort to build an important supporting base for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei new energy and intelligent connected vehicle industry," stated a relevant official from the Langfang Municipal Industry and Information Technology Bureau.
