Qingdao City will experience temporary water supply suspensions in certain areas starting at 22:00 tomorrow. Residents are advised to store water in advance.

Due to water pipeline construction on Heilongjiang South Road (between Fuzhou North Road and Hefei Road), areas including No. 95 and 97 Harbin Road in Shibei District, the Jialingou Low-rent Apartments, No. 2 Ning'an Road, the Harbin Road 87 Dongfeng Nissan 4S store, Tonghe Hospital, the Lvjin Hotel, and the Qingdao Idle Materials Trading Center and its affiliated outlets will have their water supply cut off or experience reduced pressure from 22:00 on May 18th until 06:00 the following day. The restoration time may be adjusted based on construction progress. Residents should prepare water beforehand and ensure valves are tightly closed during the suspension to prevent leaks. A brief period of water quality fluctuation may occur after service resumes, which can be resolved by running the tap for a short while. For inquiries, contact the Qingdao Water Group service hotline at 96111 or the district water service office at 0532-85690121.

Separately, Qingdao is advancing the ecological restoration of five islands—Lingshan Island, Xiaoguan Island, Zhaitang Island, Dagong Island, and Zhucha Island—through eight conservation and restoration projects. With guidance from the Ministry of Natural Resources and the North Sea Bureau, the city has secured 648 million yuan in central government funding for marine ecological protection and restoration. This initiative aims to strengthen the ecological foundation for the integrated development of Qingdao's mountains, sea, and islands, promote high-quality growth of the marine economy, and help establish the city as an international coastal tourism and vacation destination. The city's 882.92-kilometer coastline and 120 scattered islands represent valuable natural assets. While rich in island resources, Qingdao has historically faced challenges such as poor transportation, weak infrastructure, and extensive development, leading to damage in nearshore marine ecosystems, degradation of island landscapes, and limitations on cultural tourism and ecological industry development, hindering the effective utilization of these resources. The restoration process follows an ecological philosophy prioritizing natural recovery supplemented by artificial intervention, with technical support from the North Sea Bureau, to rebuild the ecological barriers of the five key islands. By revitalizing functions and introducing new formats, wellness tourism is being extended from land to sea, creating a "maritime wellness belt" that connects islands and integrates land and sea.

In motorsports, the French rider Valentin Debise, representing the Chinese motorcycle manufacturer "Zhang Xue Motorcycle," won the first round of the WorldSSP category at the 2026 World Superbike Championship (WSBK) Czech round, marking the team's fourth victory of the season.
