Shares of FTAI Aviation Ltd. suffered a sharp 24-hour plunge of 18.40%, as a double blow of disappointing quarterly results and a lowered segment outlook triggered heavy selling pressure. The decline began during Wednesday's regular session and accelerated in after-hours trading following the release of the company's second-quarter earnings report.
The company reported Q2 adjusted earnings per share of $1.13, significantly missing analyst consensus estimates which ranged from $1.32 to $1.69. Net income attributable to shareholders dropped 27.27% year-over-year to $117.59 million, while adjusted EBITDA came in at $291.44 million, well below the $330.6 million that analysts had projected. Adding to investor concerns, the company lowered its 2026 Aviation Leasing adjusted EBITDA guidance to $475 million from $575 million, although it reaffirmed its Aerospace Products guidance and introduced a 2027 adjusted EBITDA target of $2.3 billion.
The sell-off was further compounded by a pre-earnings price target reduction from RBC Capital Markets, which cut its target to $300 from $350. The combination of the earnings miss, the guidance downgrade, and the analyst target cut overwhelmed positive developments such as a 40.94% revenue increase and a dividend hike to $0.50 per share, driving the steep stock decline.
