Textron Inc. (TXT) shares tumbled 5.34% during pre-market trading on Tuesday, erasing early gains following the release of its second-quarter 2026 financial results. The decline came despite the company reporting quarterly revenue and earnings that modestly exceeded analyst expectations.

The aerospace and defense manufacturer posted adjusted earnings of $1.62 per share on revenue of $3.83 billion, narrowly beating consensus estimates of $1.55 per share and $3.80 billion respectively. However, the positive headline numbers were overshadowed by several areas of concern. The company’s aviation segment, which includes the Cessna and Beechcraft brands, experienced lower jet delivery volumes and persistent manufacturing inefficiencies that offset the benefit of higher aircraft pricing. Meanwhile, Textron cautioned that a lack of additional funding for the U.S. Army’s MV-75 Cheyenne program could reduce full-year adjusted earnings by $0.20 to $0.30 per share, introducing a significant risk to its financial outlook.

Adding to the cautious tone, Textron merely reiterated its full-year adjusted profit guidance of $6.40 to $6.60 per share, which at its midpoint fell slightly short of the $6.52 analyst consensus. The company also announced it had initiated a sale process for its Industrial segment, signaling a strategic shift that may have contributed to the market’s tepid reaction. The combination of mixed operational performance, a potential headwind from a key military program, and an unchanged, conservative outlook appeared to weigh heavily on investor sentiment.
