China Eastern Airlines Corporation Limited (CHINA EAST AIR) (00670) has released its operational data for May 2026.
The company's passenger capacity, measured in available seat kilometers, decreased by 5.34% year-on-year for the month.
Passenger traffic, measured in revenue passenger kilometers, fell by 3.63% compared to the same period last year.
The passenger load factor for May was 86.93%, representing a year-on-year increase of 1.54 percentage points.
In the cargo segment, cargo and mail traffic, measured in cargo and mail ton kilometers, saw a 7.38% increase year-on-year.
Regarding its route network in May, the airline launched, resumed, or increased frequency on several domestic and international routes.
For the domestic market, it inaugurated a new route from Chengdu Tianfu to Altay and resumed service on the Fuzhou to Huaian route.
Flight frequencies were increased on routes including Beijing Daxing to Zhuhai, Beijing Daxing to Ningbo, Beijing Daxing to Koria, Guangzhou to Dali, Wuhan to Haikou, and Chengdu Tianfu to Tengchong.
In the international and regional markets, frequencies were boosted on routes such as Shanghai Pudong to Barcelona, Shanghai Pudong to Daegu, and Kunming to Vientiane.
During May, the carrier added six new aircraft to its fleet, comprising four A320 series planes, one C919, and one C909.
It also retired two A320 series aircraft in the same period.
As of the end of May 2026, the company's total operational fleet consisted of 827 aircraft.
