Greenbrier's stock experienced a significant after-hours plunge of 5.14% following the release of its quarterly financial results.
The decline came after the company reported second-quarter earnings of $0.47 per share, which missed the analyst consensus estimate of $0.86 by a substantial margin. Quarterly sales of $587.5 million also fell short of the $667.025 million estimate, representing a 22.91% decrease compared to the same period last year.
Adding to investor concerns, Greenbrier provided fiscal 2026 revenue guidance in the range of $2.4 billion to $2.5 billion, which is significantly below the FactSet consensus estimate of $2.89 billion. The company's weaker-than-expected performance and outlook contributed to the post-market selloff.
