Stock Track | Shanghai Electric Plummets 5.01% Intraday as Profit-Taking Hits After Thorium Reactor Rally

Stock Track
May 14

Shanghai Electric's stock plummeted 5.01% during intraday trading, extending losses after a recent surge driven by nuclear energy developments.

The decline comes as investors take profits following a rally earlier this week when China's fourth-generation thorium-based molten salt reactor was officially completed. Shanghai Electric, as the only domestic company covering all fourth-generation nuclear technology routes, had attracted significant capital inflows.

Sector enthusiasm has cooled after the rapid run-up, with institutional profit-taking evident from a recent block trade at a discount. The broader Heavy Electrical Equipment sector is also under widespread selling pressure, indicating a broad-based correction as the thorium molten salt reactor concept digests earlier gains.
