Beijing has issued a new plan to deepen its development as an international consumption center city during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, according to a notice dated October 10.

The document states that relevant authorities will push forward the "AI Plus Consumption" initiative in depth.

In terms of expanding digital product consumption, the plan calls for increasing the effective supply of next-generation smart terminal products such as AI-powered mobile phones and computers, smart wearables, and intelligent robots.

At the same time, authorities will encourage the industry to innovate in digital content consumption.

This includes supporting the use of AI technology to assist in the creation of drama, music, dance, fine arts, and immersive experiences, rolling out more high-quality digital cultural and museum products, and boosting the supply of ultra-high-definition content for radio, television, and online audiovisual platforms.

The plan also aims to create new digital consumption scenarios by accelerating the integration of digital and intelligent technologies with consumption settings.

It calls for promoting the application of AI, virtual reality, ultra-high-definition, and other technologies in commerce, education, healthcare, culture, tourism, and sports, and for building smart commercial districts and smart stores.

In addition, the plan seeks to expand digital consumption channels by supporting the digital marketing efforts of physical commercial enterprises and guiding the regulated and healthy development of instant retail and livestream e-commerce.
