During the 2026 National Day holiday, Nanjing welcomed visitors from all over the world with great enthusiasm.
According to the Nanjing Smart Tourism Big Data Monitoring Platform, during the National Day holiday (October 1-7), the city's monitored locations 鈥?including scenic spots, cultural and museum venues, rural tourism sites, and national-level nighttime cultural and tourism consumption clusters 鈥?received a total of 17.956 million visitor trips, a daily average increase of 5.2% compared to last year.
Scenic spots recorded 8.445 million visitor trips, cultural and museum venues recorded 1.425 million visitor trips, and rural tourism monitoring sites recorded 1.539 million visitor trips.
The top five scenic spots by visitor reception were: the Confucius Temple-Qinhuai Scenic Belt, the Zhongshan Scenic Area, Xuanwu Lake Scenic Area, Hongshan Forest Zoo, and Niushou Mountain Cultural Tourism Zone.
During the National Day holiday, Nanjing hosted a total of 10 large-scale performances (1 fireworks show at the Garden Expo Park, 4 Hua Chenyu concerts at Tangshan, 2 Wakin Chau concerts at the Youth Olympic Sports Park, 2 ROCK music festivals at Slow City, and 1 Yangtze Finless Porpoise Music Festival at Jiangxinzhou). According to Dengta Data, cumulative audience numbers reached 194,000 (accounting for 43.9% of the provincial total), with box office revenue of 172 million yuan (accounting for 52.5% of the provincial total).
During the National Day holiday, a "Joyful Nanjing 路 Rural Travel" direct shuttle service was launched, and nearly 60 rural cultural and tourism specialty events were organized. Large-scale performances and fireworks shows generated significant spillover effects. The city's 85 rural tourism monitoring sites received a daily average of 219,900 visitor trips, with a daily comparable year-on-year increase of 2.5%. During peak periods, 55 rural boutique homestays achieved occupancy rates exceeding 70%, of which 37 were fully booked.
From October 1 to 6, the city's average hotel occupancy rate was 84%, up 1.4% year-on-year. Multiple hotels, including the Kempinski Hotel, Greenland InterContinental Hotel, Shangri-La Hotel, Grand Hotel Nanjing, Suning Zhongshan International Golf Hotel, and Huangpu Hotel, were fully booked for consecutive days. Driven by the spillover effect of the Hua Chenyu concert, hotels in Jiangning and surrounding areas were fully booked.
According to China UnionPay Merchant Services data, Nanjing's total cultural and tourism consumption amounted to 10.97 billion yuan. Of this, out-of-town cultural and tourism consumption reached 7.47 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7%, accounting for 21.3% of the provincial total. According to Meituan Travel platform data, Nanjing ranked TOP 1 among popular long-haul travel destination cities. According to a joint release by Tuniu and China Mobile Wutong Data, Nanjing ranked among the top three nationwide for popular source cities during the National Day holiday. According to Qunar Travel platform data, Nanjing ranked TOP 3 among popular cities for hotel bookings. According to data from platforms such as Ctrip and Mafengwo, Nanjing's hotel order volume during the 2026 Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday was prominently ranked across all platforms.
