Zillow Group Inc. (NASDAQ: Z) experienced a sharp decline of 7.37% in after-hours trading on Wednesday. The sell-off followed the company's release of its first-quarter 2026 financial results.

Zillow reported adjusted earnings per share of $0.53, surpassing the analyst consensus estimate of $0.46. Revenue for the quarter came in at $708 million, also exceeding Wall Street expectations. Despite these positive results, which represented beats on both the top and bottom lines, investors reacted negatively, driving the stock price down significantly in extended trading.

The market's reaction suggests that investors may have been looking for stronger guidance, different metrics, or were concerned about other aspects of the report not immediately apparent from the headline numbers. Such "sell-the-news" reactions are not uncommon when high expectations are already priced into a stock ahead of an earnings announcement.
