A smuggling case involving wildlife products was intercepted at the Ruili border checkpoint in Yunnan province. Authorities seized seven bags of powdered pangolin scales with a net weight of 2.0164 kilograms.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of May 29th at the China-Myanmar Street vehicle entry channel of the Ruili Port. During routine inspections, border officers identified a male passenger exhibiting suspicious behavior.
Upon questioning, the man provided inconsistent answers, raising the officers' suspicion. His demeanor became notably agitated when officers moved to inspect his means of transport, further deepening their concerns.
A thorough search revealed the contraband. The seven bags of powdered pangolin scales, packaged in plastic, were discovered concealed within a hidden compartment of the electric scooter's battery case.
