During the National Day holiday, the entire Shanghai rail transit network safely transported a cumulative total of 50.0729 million passengers, averaging 7.1533 million per day, an increase of 82,900 passengers or 1.17% compared to the same period last year, according to the latest data.

Among this total, the city's Airport Link averaged 69,000 passengers per day, an increase of 14,600 passengers or 26.82% compared to the same period last year. Additionally, on September 24, single-day ridership reached 87,000 passengers, setting a new all-time high record since the Airport Link began operations.

To ensure safe and orderly operations during the National Day holiday, Shanghai rail transit refined and implemented operational organization and support plans in advance, making thorough preparations in areas such as passenger transport organization, capacity assurance, equipment quality, and emergency response. On-site management and equipment support were strengthened, with advance deployments made at key stations such as transportation hubs.

Throughout the holiday, a total of 7,676 additional staff shifts were added across all lines, and 919 volunteers were mobilized. Key efforts focused on supporting the closure control of Nanjing East Road Station and Yuyuan Station, extended operating hours, nighttime fixed-point additional trains, and passenger flow management at key stations. More than 120,000 person-times were on duty cumulatively, averaging approximately 15,000 person-times per day, fully safeguarding residents' holiday travel.

To meet passenger demand, from September 30 to October 3, Lines 1, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 13 — six lines in total — extended operations until midnight the following day, with 264 additional train trips during the extended period, safely transporting 46,500 passengers. From October 6 to October 7, Lines 1, 2, 10, and 17 implemented fixed-point additional train plans at key transportation hub stations. At the same time, in accordance with instructions from the Transportation Commission, fixed-point extra trains were added as late as 2:30 AM the following day, with a total of 76 additional train trips transporting 45,700 passengers.

In addition, Hongqiao Railway Station Station on Lines 2 and 10 and Pudong Airport Terminal 1 and 2 Station extended operating hours to enhance nighttime evacuation capacity, accompanying residents and passengers safely home.

During the National Day period, People's Square Station formulated a special passenger transport plan in advance, adding personnel and optimizing positions to efficiently divert large passenger flows. Nanjing East Road Station faced pressure from high passenger volumes combined with route adjustments caused by the closure of Exit 7 for construction. Relying on a multi-party coordination mechanism, it issued reminders through broadcasts, screen displays, and manual guidance across multiple channels to finely manage passenger flow. Jianchuan Road Station implemented barrier-free relay assistance. Young employees at Shanghai Songjiang Station stayed at their posts, ensuring the stable operation of self-service equipment and providing inquiry and top-up services. Lujiazui Station proactively provided travel guidance for domestic and international tourists. Disney Station arranged volunteers at key positions such as ticket offices, service centers, and gate entrances to guide passengers entering and exiting, answer travel questions, and provide assistance to those in need. The Airport Link set up bilingual service positions across all stations, offering one-stop warm services including station entry, transfers, and luggage assistance for domestic and international passengers. Staff on the Maglev Line stayed at their posts, providing relay assistance to foreign passengers and conveying the warmth of the city.

During the holiday, various cultural and entertainment events were held intensively. Operations and maintenance units actively coordinated with public security and venue operators, improving "one station, one plan" and strengthening guidance based on passenger flow characteristics to maintain on-site order. Baoyang Road Station made every effort to ensure passenger evacuation after the Baoshan Riverside Fireworks Show. Oriental Sports Center Station supported the Shanghai N Power Qiantan Music Festival, dynamically adjusting escalators and passenger flow routes to ensure the safe return of tens of thousands of music fans. Fuxing Island Station supported travel for large events including Xiaohongshu RED LAND and the EDC Daisy Electric Carnival, with Party member backbone personnel taking the lead and building a localized coordinated support network. Nanda Road Station provided passenger flow support for the Dongfang Fengyun Bang · Nanda Night Music Season, scientifically allocating capacity and conducting on-site management and guidance.

The maintenance company simultaneously reinforced the bottom line of equipment safety, developing special support plans around equipment protection, emergency duty, and cross-unit coordination, with responsibilities pressed down layer by layer. During the National Day period, maintenance efforts cumulatively deployed over 28,000 person-times of support personnel and over 5,000 person-times of additional duty shifts, building a support network of "key coverage and full-domain response" to ensure the stable and reliable operation of facilities and equipment across all lines.
