Sunrise Energy Metals Ltd (SRL.AU) experienced a sharp intraday surge, soaring 15.19% on Monday, driven by the announcement of a substantial conditional loan commitment from the U.S. Department of War's Office of Strategic Capital.
The company confirmed in a filing that it has secured a conditional commitment for up to $400 million in funding to support the development of its Syerston scandium project in New South Wales. The loan, subject to financial close, carries a 25-year maturity and will be disbursed in phases upon meeting project milestones, equity deployment, and binding offtake agreements.
Adding to investor optimism, Sunrise Energy also announced it has commenced preparations for a listing on a U.S. securities exchange, subject to necessary approvals. The Syerston project is planned to produce 60 tonnes per annum of scandium oxide over a 32-year operating life, positioning the company to become a key supplier of this critical mineral.
